Standard Press Celebrates 75 Years of Business with Addition of New Komori Press

2007 marks the 75th anniversary of Standard Press which began operating in Atlanta in 1932.  To celebrate our 75th birthday, we’ve added some new equipment to the Standard Press lineup.  Our biggest addition and at 60 tons, our heaviest, is a brand new Komori press. The press has been up and running since April and is already operating at full capacity.  The 40-inch, six color Komori with In Line Aqueous Coater has the capacity to run 16,000 press sheets per hour and make ready a six color job in less than 20 minutes.  The addition of the new press brings our total print capacity to three 40 inch presses which are all operating 7 days a week.

Our new Komori is the most automated press in the Atlanta market today.  It has CIP3 connectivity that links the console to the pre-press and also features closed loop scanning spectrometry.  This press has superior color management and easily handles the heaviest of solids.  To accommodate the 75 foot press, Standard Press completed a stunning new pressroom expansion.

With all of the activity in the pressroom, we also made some key additions to the finishing side of Standard Press.  We invested in a new Heidelberg Polar 137 paper cutting system as well as a Heidelberg 6 pocket plus cover feeder saddle stitching machine.  Both pieces of equipment have been up and running since March and are already making a great impact.

Our latest investments represent our ongoing commitment to maximizing our use of new printing technology and equipment advances to give your business competitive advantage. We are proudly combining our 75 year heritage of customer service with the latest technology around to continuously deliver the highest quality outputs available in the Atlanta market today.  If you haven’t seen our new press or our other new additions in person, we would love to have you come by for a visit.
